Add Your Promo

I've added a promo URL field to the database so if you have a new show to add and have a promo for your show you can add it at that time. If your show is already in the database, click the Feedback link and send me a note. Please make sure you include the name of your show so I can link it up (better still you know the id from the details URL send that in too!).

Once you have sent in your promo URL it will be added to the details page, as well it will show up on What's New and Shuffle.

Check out the latest promo from the Bear Cave podcast.

Podcast Shuffle Picks - My Favorite Shows

I've been thinking picking some shows to promote on the site and decided that I wanted to pull these out of my iPodder subscription list and point them your way. I'm linking directly to their web sites so you can get a holistic view of their shows rather than just point you at a RSS feed:

Verge of the Fringe - Storyteller Lance Anderson lives somewhere between the verge of success and the bohemian fringe of Hollywood. This is his story...

Barefoot Radio - Barefoot Radio is an unusual and sometimes vulgar daily talk radio show. Opinionated topics include music, celebrities, politics, comedy, prank phone calls and philosophy in general. Barefoot Radio is taped in Denver, Colorado but heard around the whole world.

Slice of Sci-Fi - Slice of Sci Podcast from Michael and Evo; Trek United, Save Enterprise

Orange Lounge Radio - Gaming / Technology / Entertainment Podcast dedicated to what video gamers really want to know. Gaming news and reports from the gamer community. Reviews and discussion on video games that don't suck. Hosted by DarkSakura, skie & Loki

Starfrosch Podcast - Free Netaudio MP3 Music for podcast download stream.

Inside Mac Radio - The Macintosh represents more than a computing platform among the tech-savvy, for many it's a way of life. Inside Mac brings the voice of experience to the people who live the Macintosh digital lifestyle. Inside Mac is one of the most unique tech shows on broadcast radio today.

These are the shows that I like the most. There's tons more in my subscription list but I think these are the best. They'll also be linked over on the lower right hand side of the site until they start to bore me! ;) Check them out. Leave those guys some feedback or just stay right here and browse the directory some more.

Podcast Shuffle Search Widget 1.1

Last week I created a Mac OS X Tiger Dashboard Widget for Podcast Shuffle. I updated it to version 1.1. I added a back side to the widget, so it flips like the ones that Apple provided with Tiger. So if you have Tiger check it out by downloading the zip archive on the dashboard page.

Version 1.2 is in the works, but still buggy. :)

Inside Mac Radio & Other New Podcasts

Its no secret that I'm an Apple fan (hmm maybe it was, but now its out!). This whole site is made on my PowerBook. Scott from Inside Mac Radio wrote in to let me know more about his Podcast. Check it out:

Inside Mac Radio - The Macintosh represents more than a computing platform among the tech-savvy, for many it's a way of life. Inside Mac brings the voice of experience to the people who live the Macintosh digital lifestyle. The show is currently syndicated every week across the country and around the world on terrestrial broadcast radio stations, Podcast, Audible, Macworld Magazine CD and streaming live on broadband web radio. Anchor Scott Sheppard and correspondents Desmond Crisis and Laura Burstein cover the latest tech stories with the Mac user in mind. Senior Mac Technologist Sam Levin keeps listeners updated on the latest products, and news correspondent Ken Ray brings it all into perspective with a regular roundup of the week's news headlines. Inside Mac is one of the most unique tech shows on broadcast radio today.

Also check out the What's New, you'll find The PiECast, Subject To Discussion and Radio Vaticana One-O-Five Live (its in Italian I think).

BBC News, Sports, Entertainment & Education

Peter wrote in to let me know that the BBC had launched their podcasts. I checked out their site and sure enough last week they started. Thanks Peter!

"As part of a trial we're offering some programmes and programme highlights as downloads and podcasts. The trial runs from May to December 2005 and programmes will start appearing on Monday 16 May."

They have quite a few shows available already and more on the way. I think there's some sort of strike or 'industrial action' as they call it across the Atlantic going on at the BBC and other businesses in England or they would have a few more. Well there's no industrial action here at Podcast Shuffle, so here's your new categories: News and Education! You can also search for BBC to find them all.

The podcast directory is up to 938 shows!

Frat Pack Podcast & Red Bar Radio

Here's a couple new shows to check out. BTW - The Red Bar Radio feed doesn't look setup yet, but you can listen to their show on the web site. Maybe give them a few days to update their XML file.

RED BAR RADIO - Hosts MIKE D. and RONNIE harshly judge pop-culture in this 2-HOUR, weekly talk show. RED BAR RADIO isn't like those other boring radio shows. RED BAR RADIO has been around for 2 years now, and has gained over 50,000 daily listeners! A fast-pased look at current events, entertainment, politics and everything else. See what thousands of others are listening to! Oh yeah - you'll be laughing a lot too.

Apple OS X Downloads - Podcast Shuffle Search Widget

Imagine how psyched I was that Apple uploaded my Podcast Shuffle Search Widget in their downloads area and it appeared on the Dashboard page! I think the site went down for a little while. I emailed my provider (DataRide) to see what was up, but by the time I came back from telling my wife that I crashed my site (we were both excited about it) the problem seemed to be resolved. Wow. Not too bad for me having the lowest level plan with them. I'll post here when I found out what happened. :)

Top of the Pods & Child of Television

I added a couple new shows tonight:

Top Of The Pods - Top Of The Pods bring you the ultimate Top Ten Lists. From the obscure to the damn right bandwagon popular, our Top Tens leave the rest for dust. Our views, our reviews - our Top Tens. But we don't stop there. We want your Top Tens too. Firstly we're a lazy pair and if you can write our content then great - less work for us! But seriously, we want to hear what makes your Top Tens too. You may get slated, but you may have us bow down in humble adoration. Who knows? The best part though, is that you're all envolved. So come on, send us your Top Tens now!

CHILD OF TELEVISION - The Pre-ramble I am a child of television. I represent the first generation whom, when we were born, the television was now a permanent fixture in our homes. When I was born people had breakfast with Barbara Walters, dinner with Walter Cronkite, and slept with Johnny Carson. With that being said, no, television did not make me believe that all problems can be solved in 30 minutes. I never thought that Leave it to Beaver presented a realistic look on life. But Threes Company did make me believe that you could rent a 2-bedroom apartment in Santa Monica for $300.00 a month. I wish that life came with a laugh track. That way people who cant see how funny life really is can at least pretend they get it. I have noticed that an electronic piece of furniture has entered our sphere of influence more so than any other medium, but let me get one thing straight, I am not a couch potato, I am a Television Aficionado American. I am a comedian, writer and actor. I read books, and not just the ones that Oprah tells me to. I am happily married and am a productive member of society. I live in Hollywood, California and am tired of members of my community being described as amoral and trying to undermine the fabric of the American family. As a child I was warned that when I grow up Ill be at parties and people will be talking about things that are happening in the world and all I will be able to talk about is TV. Well today at parties I'm the one who wants to talk about things that are happening in the world and everyone else wants to talk about TV. My purpose for writing this column is not to be a TV critic, although at times I can and will be very critical of the medium and its viewers. I hope through this column I can illustrate how real life influences TV and how TV influences real life and while doing so incorporating some observations and personal stories. To quote Walter Cronkite, "Thats the way it is". Stay Tuned Tony Figueroa

Multiple Categories for Podcasts!

If you have filled out the Add A Podcast form in the past you might have noticed that I ask for three cateogries. Up until now, your show only showed up in one category. However I added some new query code to the cateogry pages that builds the Podcast Shuffle directory to ask for the other categories as well.

So really what this means is that if a show has more than one category, it will show up in more than one category list! Yeah! The related shows appear at the bottom of the category pages. I haven't figured out how to make the "Related Podcast List" go away if there are zero shows, but I will soon. ;)

If your show is in the directory and you want or need more categories (or a description or web site) attached to your podcast, find it and send me the URL of your show (or just the ID in the URL) and click the Feedback link. Sometime in the future I'll add an edit this podcast link on the details pages, but not today. :)

Storytelling & New Podcasts

Lance from Verge of the Fringe convinced me today that I should have a Storytelling category. So there it is and I also added a few more Storytelling shows.

Baltimore Stories is a quick stroll down memory lane with Charm City's own Gilbert Sandler. No one knows our town like he does, and his stories are an insider's look at Baltimore's rich past and unique culture.

Hometown Tales - Are the urban legends, ghost stories and tales we all tell true? We don't care. It's all about the telling. Put two Irish guys in front of microphones once a week and suddenly you have a jam-packed 45 minutes of high speed, passionate talk about strange news, tales, historical oddities and anything else. It's a wild ride if you can keep up.

And a Science podcast:
Red Giant Radio - Red Giant Radio delivers the latest news in Astronomy and Theoretical Physics, accompanied by obscure music you're sure to love.

Podcast Shuffle Updates (2)

I added a new category: Law and added 12 legal podcasts. You can check them out by going to that category page.

Also you might notice that I fixed a formatting error for MSIE Windows users. I thought I had fixed it before, maybe I broke it earlier today... hmm ... Anyhow. I generally view the site on a Powerbook using Safari and today I am using my Dell (DUDE!) and noticed that I broke something. Hopefully everything is much better for you.

Also you'll notice that the site is a little wider. I've bumped up the width to 800 pixels and halved the Podcast Shuffle logo image to take up less vertical space. Hopefully this will make the site a littler easier to use (i.e. less scrolling).
