Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to everybody. Genelle and I have been passing out candy to all the kids coming by. Its great fun! I dressed up as the Grim Reaper to scare the kids at the door.

I'm a couple days behind on podcast directory submissions. So if you sent one in this week, I haven't gotten to it yet. I'm still on October 28th. :)

Free MP3 Ringtones!

I have the new iTunes ROKR phone and am in need of some custom ringtones. When I search in google for ringtones or free ringtones all I get is a bunch of crap sites trying to sell me something. I don't think there are many quality sites out there where you can actually get a ringtone for free.

So I'm planning on settting up a feed of ring tones that I make in Garageband and that other podcasters or musicians want to send in. I'd imagine that other phones will be able to use them as well.

Here's my first four: mp3-ringtones-01.zip that I'll be putting in the feed later on. Maybe I'll even setup a separate directory. If you have something to share let me know via mail to podcastshuffle [at] gmail [dot] com. (its gotta be podsafe though... and about 8-15 seconds long)

On the Verge of Fourty

Lance from the Verge of the Fringe, turns fourty in his latest episode. Be sure to check it out or click here to Listen Now!

This is a very low-key cast about me turning forty. The good news is that at least I have "perspective" ... In the pre-ramble I thank you for your kind thoughts about "Monkey" and I talk about the Mac Klass. Plus I pimp the LA Podcasters and our booth at the Podcast Expo. Also, I'll be performing next week at Story Fest 05...

Motorola ROKR iTunes Phone

My wife bought me a Motorola ROKR iTunes Phone for my birthday and I have to say its pretty cool. The phone has good reception, works well with the over the ear Motorola BlueTooth ear piece and has an awesome speakerphone. You can listen to 100 songs via the built in iTunes feature. Also if you're listening to music and a call comes in you can just take the call with the ear buds still in. I like that feature the most because often I am doing calls from noisy airports and having both ears plugged into the conversation will totally reduce ambient noise. The call answer feature that pauses your music will be great too because I am always worried about not hearing the phone while listening to music on my iPod. I think I'd still take my 4G iPod along on long trips. One draw back... loading music on the phone takes a while. Seems like the phone's USB connection is 1.0 or something similar. Its slow! However I have loaded a mix of tunes that I won't change for a while so its not a big deal. If you're in the market for a new phone I'd check this one out. Definitely not a iPod replacement but for times when you just need one device and want some tunes it will be perfect. I recommend it!
